July 21, 2014 by alaahassan

Alright! You win!

I’ve been selling online for over 13+ years and recently, I’ve been noticing something…

Every week, I get numerous emails (from friends & clients) about how can they improve their online business.

Back in the day, a friend would ask me “how can I start selling online?“, but now, questions are different.

Example:

  • Which shopping cart platform should I use to save money & remain competitive?
  • Google Adwords is costing me a lot of money….should I shut down my ads?
  • Facebook isn’t generating sales to my website, what am I doing wrong?
  • Why am I not getting SEO traffic like before?
  • I get good amount of traffic to my website, but conversions are low.  How can I improve that?

And the list goes on!

So now what?

I love what I do and I’m very passionate about eCommerce (even won an award for being one of the most knowledgeable eCommerce experts in the industry. Yayyy!).  I truly enjoy seeing online business owners increase their profitability by implementing ideas I’ve shared with them.

So now, here’s what I’m going to do for you:

I plan on creating a valuable & extremely useful online course to help retailers just like you answer all your questions about improving your business.  This course will be based on my own experience selling on the Internet for over 13+ years & helping clients (both small & medium businesses) through my agency.

I want to make this course USEFUL & VALUABLE.

I would love to hear YOUR questions & learn more about the daily challenges you’re facing within your online business via this simple 5 minute survey.

Why? I want to make sure I answer all your questions when creating this amazing course.

Help Me Find a Job! (That's What People Keep Asking Me)

July 19, 2014 by alaahassan

Find a Job Today!

If you’ve been unemployed for a while and feeling like it’s going to last forever, you’re not alone.

Millions of people around the world are struggling with the same demon. Everyone needs to find a job, but there are only so many to be had. More people are entering the workforce with graduate degrees than ever before, making the competition frighteningly fierce. Years ago, it was enough just to be qualified and well-educated. You were a shoe-in for any job.

Now, everyone is qualified and well-educated – even the guy taking your order at the drive-thru.

But don’t despair. You can still stand out from the pack.

Here are some tips to help you increase the chances of you finding a job

Be Passionate!

Make no mistake about it; passion isn’t something you can fake. Even if you’re a great actor, employers can tell when you’re not being genuine. So, be genuine. Find a job that you’re actually passionate about and your enthusiasm will shine through. Think about it this way. If you were a wine distributor, would you want to hire a great salesperson whose idea of a great time is going to Oktoberfest, or would you want to hire a great salesperson who truly enjoys wine?

Be Social!

Once you decide what you’re passionate about, start to network with others who share your passion. You may already have friends who do, and that’s great, but you should also try to meet new people and make connections that can help you find a job. There are many great social networking sites out there, including PassionTribe, that can help connect you with the right people. Just remember that all relationships, including online ones, need to be nurtured. If you can help others in the community, they’ll be more likely to help you.

Be Consistent

This one could also be labeled “Be Patient,” but that might imply sitting back and waiting for something. Instead, try to consistently make an effort to connect with people around your passion. Be consistent about your efforts to find a job too. Remember, every step you take in the right direction ill bring you closer to your goal.

It may seem like opportunities fall into other people’s laps so easily, but that’s usually just an illusion. People don’t ever remember the struggles. They tend to focus on the payoff. The most successful people in the world today have tried and failed at many things. They have been fired from jobs and rejected at job interviews. But they kept going. They made a consistent effort and eventually their efforts paid off. Keep that in mind as you’re out there looking to find a job in a tough environment. Then, keep your head up and start thinking of more ways to make your resume stand out from all the rest. Once you start getting creative, things usually fall into place.

This is How I Measure My Online Success

April 9, 2014 by alaahassan

measure success

When you run multiple online businesses, you need to keep track of your performance.  Goals & objectives must be set ahead of time and a clear action plan must be put in place in order to attain them.

Here’s a great quote by Lord Kelvin:

“If you can not measure it, you can not improve it.”

Everything I do online must be measured.  There’s no point of doing them if you can’t monitor the performance of all your efforts.  Keeping track of everything allows you to see a bigger picture of things.  If something works well, find out why and try to duplicate it and make it better.  If something fails, find out why it happened and plan so that it doesn’t happen again.

First thing in the morning, I launch all my website analytics software.  I can see how much money we made across all channels, how many visitors came to our website, the performance of our marketing campaigns and much more.  I wrote about some amazing tools you can use for website analytics on my eCommerce Blog.  In addition, do consider using some sort of project management tools to help you stay on top of your own productivity.

Enjoy your morning!

11 Reasons Why You Should Love Winter

February 18, 2014 by alaahassan

winter love

I am actually trying to embrace winter this year but it’s simply not working.  Today, I decided to create a list of things I love about winter.  Isn’t it the most exciting season ever!  I’m sure you agree.

Reasons:

  1. The constant worry that winter is coming is simply exciting
  2. You actually experience the sunrise everyday
  3. There are no outdoor chores except snow removal
  4. Spending time with family at home since it’s too cold outside
  5. You finally get a chance to wear many fashion accessories like a tuque, mittens…
  6. The feeling you get after drinking warm beverages like hot chocolate
  7. You get to try & eat all sorts of soups
  8. You can get fat and still be able to hide it under all the layers of clothes
  9. You don’t feel bad having a dirty car since everyone else has one too
  10. You get to plan a summer vacation!
  11. You get to experience the feeling of Winter is finally over

Why I'm Addicted to Podcasts!

February 5, 2014 by alaahassan

I love Podcasts

After switching from Samsung S4 smart phone back to the iPhone, I’ve discovered a new world that has truly changed the way I consume knowledge.  The world of Podcasts!

Before listening to podcasts, I was consuming knowledge through:

  • Books (physical & digital)
  • Online articles/blog posts
  • School
  • Conferences, Seminars, Workshops

But all those channels wouldn’t allow me to multi-task (I could be wrong about the school part because I would be on Facebook while the teacher was lecturing).
With podcasts, I’m able to consume them while..

  • Driving (to work, drop/pickup my daughter from school)
  • Working on the computer
  • At the gym
  • Walking

Being able to consume knowledge while I was driving and working out is simply priceless.  Those 2 activities would require usually 2 hours of my daily routine.  Before I would simply listen to the radio or whatever was playing at the gym and think about a million things.  But now, I’m actually digesting new thoughts, ideas and perspectives from podcasters that have interesting life experiences to learn from.

You should really give it a try…it might actually allow you to discover your true passion.

Here’s a short list of some podcasts I’m currently subscribed to:

  • This is Your Life by Michael Hyatt
  • The Meditation Podcast
  • Entrepreneur on Fire with John Lee Dumas
  • The Overwhelmed Brain
  • Six Pixels of Separation with Mitch Joel
  • Social Media Marketing Podcast

Why not ASK the person beside you for feedback?

January 28, 2014 by alaahassan

ask around

I hate meetings especially the ones with no real agenda!  But I don’t mind a meeting where Chicken Wings are being served! :p

People ask me where do I get my marketing ideas?  How do I come up with the latest promotion concept or Giveaway? Do I conduct brainstorming meetings? The answer is simple:

1) I watch what other retailers do……and DO IT BETTER!

2) I ask my own employees for ideas.

Just today, we got a new marketing strategy figured out by simply asking the 3 employees sitting close to me in the office.

Don’t by shy…..ask around and you will be surprised what you will get!

Happy Selling!
